From Two Wheels to Three: Sharing Our Mission at Bell Works
Share
Last week we had the privilege of presenting at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ to the annual gathering of Transition Coordinators — professionals dedicated to helping students with special needs transition into adulthood and independence.
During the talk we:
-
Shared the story of our nonprofit initiative, Three Wheels from Jesse (3WJ) — how we gift e-trikes to teens and adults on the autism spectrum so they can experience independent mobility.
-
Explained how Jesse’s e-Rides has grown from a family-owned shop into a hub for inclusion, service, and innovation.
-
Highlighted the value of three-wheel electric rides: why they matter for capacity, comfort, and confidence for riders who benefit from extra stability.
-
Engaged with attendees about how they can partner with us — whether through referrals, test rides, workplace-oriented mobility, or community outreach.
-
Responded to an insightful Q&A session on how mobility-equipment decisions can factor into transition planning and lifelong independence.
Why This Matters
The transition period for students with special needs is one of the most critical in their lives. Gaining mobility can unlock access to employment, community engagement, and greater autonomy. By presenting at Bell Works, we connected directly with the coordinators who orchestrate that path.
Our mission at Jesse’s e-Rides is not just to sell bikes or e-rides, but to create meaningful outcomes: access, dignity, and freedom.
What We Learned
-
There is growing interest among school systems for “mobility beyond the classroom” — options that support students when they leave school, not just while enrolled.
-
The coordinators are looking for reliable vendors who understand adaptive mobility, service, and follow-through — aligning with our model of providing maintenance, training, and ongoing support.
-
Stories resonate more than specs. The story of Three Wheels from Jesse anchored the talk and opened doors for meaningful follow-up.
Next Steps for Jesse’s e-Rides
-
Host a test-ride day for transition coordinators and their clients at our shop in Shrewsbury.
-
Develop an information packet tailored to school systems and transition programs, including e-trike specs, service models, and cost considerations.
-
Explore partnerships with other local mobility nonprofits and educational institutions to expand awareness of adaptive e-trikes.
-
Refine our service and support model so schools and programs understand the full lifecycle: selection, fitting, training, and maintenance.
